Jerome Cahuzac, the former French government’s budget minister and cabinet member, had a portfolio of responsibilities which included fighting tax evasion.
Now he is co-defendant with his ex-wife Patricia Menard in a case which sees her accused of hiding money in a secret Isle of Man account between 1997 and 2004.
British authorities are also involved now as the money, said to be proceeds from the couple’s hair transplant business, was placed in the Manx account for the purposes of investment in the British property market.
